Saturday, November 11th at 2pm at Tartu College, the Baltic Canadian Imprints partnership will be hosting a symposium titled Sharing Our Stories: Born in Canada. Members from all four Baltic communities, Baltic German, Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian, will be discussing the challenges and advantages of being first generation

BCI 2.1.2Canadian Balts. A panel of first generation representatives from each of the communities will be sharing their experiences with the audience. Special guest Dr. Jaak Rakfeldt (PhD, LCSW), Professor of Social Work at Southern Connecticut State University, will be speaking. Dr. Rakfeldt is also the Coordinator of the
Co-occuring Disorders (mental health and substance use) and has over fifty publications and conference publications dealing with mental health and substance use issues as well as with ethnic identity matters.

The Sharing Our Stories: Born in Canada symposium is a continuation of the group's work together and is open to everyone. The symposium will be in English. No admission fee. A small donation would be appreciated.

Friday, October 27th at 7pm
at Tartu College, the girls' choir Elise from Pärnu, Estonia will be performing a concert. In addition to their concert at Tartu College, Elise will be performing in Hamilton on October 22nd, Ehatare on October 23rd, the Estonian School in Toronto on October 24th, and at St. Peter's Church in Toronto on October 29th.

Andres Kasekamp

at Tartu College the newly appointed professor of the University of Toronto E. Tampõld Chair of Estonian Studies Dr. Andres Kasekamp will be
giving an Estonian Studies Centre public lecture on the topic of How Estonia Leads Europe. The Opportunities and Challenges of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Reception to follow to celebrate Prof. Kasekamp's arrival.

minister Mart Salumäe from the St. Peter's Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toronto
will be giving a lecture on the topic of A Century of Estonians' Own People's Church.

Sunday, October 1st, 2017 EERO, ESC/VEMU and EFBA (Estonian Fashion Brands Association) will be hosting a charity fundraising event at Tartu College: Northern Spirit: Estonian Fashion & Design Experience. 10 fashion brands and designers from Estonia will be presenting their creations in two fashion shows beginning at 2pm and 7pm (doors open at 1pm and 6pm). A pop-up store will be open, where preorders for fashion designers' work and online orders can be made. The products will be sent to the buyers at a later date. Drinks and appetizers will be available at the cash bar. This event celebrates both Canada's 150th and Estonia's 100th birthdays, and is also a part of the program for Canada's national event, Culture Days, taking place from September 29th to October 1st, 2017. 

From September 28th-October 2nd, a showroom introducing the brands will be open at Tartu College. Times to be announced.
