Kerly Ilves ja Peeter Põldre
Fate can surprise us. A casual encounter, an exchange of business cards, can suddenly become important. Such was the manner in which our careers intertwined as a result of meeting at the 2011 EstDocs opening at the Bell TIFF Lightbox in downtown Toronto. Our common ground was photography and this exhibit offers us an opportunity to collaborate.
Kerly's birthplace is Tartu. Even as a child, she was interested in visiting Canada, a dream that came true in the spring of 2011. Since 1993 she has explored many aspects of Tartu through her camera lens. Her calling is photography. Toronto is new and interesting and offers many similarities and connections to Estonia.

I was born in Tartu and completed a Master's degree in Human Geography at Tartu University.
I have been active as a volunteer in youth work. For ten years I was the leader of the Anne Youth Centre's photography group in Tartu. A few years ago, I began to teach photography to adult photo enthusiasts. My view of life was broadened by my work at the AHHAA Science Centre, where I worked as the director of expositions. For the last several years, I have travelled extensively and have gained new perspectives in Iceland and in Canada, where I first met my good friend Peeter, with whom we have created this exhibit.

Vesi – läbi veepärlite
Water – through the pearls of water
This photo is taken at the fountain with the statue of the kissing students. Children as well as adults are warmed and delighted when nearby. Imitators of the figures in the statue are plentiful and with a telephoto lens, many interesting photos can be taken.
