It’s the year 1950 in Soviet Estonia and the Stalinist terror machine is working full force – right before the eyes of 6-year-old Leelo, her school director mother is arrested. “If you are a good girl, I’ll be back soon,” are her mother’s last words, as she’s taken away by gun-carrying men. Leelo tries with all her might to be a good girl, but her mother doesn’t return…

Director Moonika Siimets’ first full length feature film is based on the beloved author Leelo Tungal’s autobiographical novels “Seltsimees laps ja suured inimesed” and “Samet ja saepuru.” In parallel with the film, the author is working on the final book of the trilogy.
