A Tribute to Tormis with TCFS and ensemble Jaaniku

Sunday, March 19th at 4pm at Tartu College, a tribute to the late Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, who passed away at the age of 86 on January 21, 2017 will be taking place. Tormis became internationally known through his choral music, which is based on the ancient Estonian song tradition called “regilaul.” He gave “regilaul” a new life through his creations with new and moderns expressions and forms of presentation. TCFS will be presnting the documentaries: Songs of the Ancient Sea (2011, 90 min) in Estonian with English subtitles and Curse Upon Iron (1986, 9 min) in Estonian. Ensemble Jaaniku will be performing.
