Self Made Cameraman (2019) film screening and discussion with director Hardi Volmer

The name of Johannes Pääsuke is not unknown to many Estonians. At Tartu College in 2012, VEMU displayed a travelling exhibition of this pioneer of Estonian photography and film history’s glass negatives. We have also shown Pääsuke’s films made for the Estonian National Museum. Now we will get to know the author of these photos and films in the feature film, “Self Made Cameraman” (2019), which fictionally depicts Pääsuke’s 1913 film and photo trips to Setomaa as a correspondent of the Estonian National Museum. Johannes Pääsuke is played by Ott Sepp and his assistant Harri Volter by Märt Avand.
