EMW – Hamilton Concerts and Workshops
6:00 PM: Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra with Kara-Lis Coverdale, Kirke Karja & more
Collective Arts Brewing, 207 Burlington St E, Hamilton
3 Canadian premiers performed by Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra with Kara-Lis Coverdale, Kirke Karja and Ansambel Triskele.
Experience unique nordic perspectives with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. Journey from some of the earliest known music of the region now known as Estonia to a young visionary composer of the Canadian-Estonian diaspora to a bright star of Tallinn’s jazz scene.
Ansambel Triskele – keepers of ancient folk songs – gives a view into Estonian music history. Thanks to a specially commissioned arrangement by Ardo Ran Varres, Ansambel Triskele will perform together with the HPO. Ansambel Triskele is rarely accompanied by orchestra, which makes this premiere even more special.
Kara-lis Coverdale, known for her electronic soundscapes shows her talent as composer and pianist. First performing solo piano, then Triskele and members of the HPO will perform a brand new commission.*
Kirke Karja first performs with her Trio followed by a Canadian premiere of Karja’s Piano Concerto. The piece will be performed by Karja herself.
*Commissioned by Alan Teder in memory of Velda and Ingvar Kattemaa
