Join VEMU on Saturday, September 23 at 2 pm at Tartu College as we celebrate TC 53 with the opening of the Vabamu exhibit “Why Estonia? The 30-year Journey from the USSR to e-Estonia” and the annual V. Soots memorial lecture by Kristina Reinsalu (Senior Expert, e-Governance Academy; Estonia). Her lecture will be titled, “Digitization as Driver for Innovation and Social Change”. Following this, Vabamu director Karen Jagodin will also be speaking.
The popular Vabamu exhibition will be opening at VEMU Estonian Museum Canada in Toronto from 23.09.2023-29.02.2024.
Originally opened in November 2021 at Vabamu Museum of Occupation and Freedom in Tallinn,‘Why Estonia? 30 Years from the USSR to e-Estonia’, takes a look back at the birth of a digital nation, its achievements over the years and what the future holds in store.The playful layout and engaging stories were designed to help answer the questions of how and why Estonia, once a nation of farmers, became a world-leading digital society and what new challenges lie ahead of us.
The exhibition has been curated by recognized Estonian technology journalist Henrik Roonemaa from an idea by the Director of Vabamu Karen Jagodin and is brought to you by Vabamu, VEMU, Taavet+Sten.
