Jane’s Walk “Estonian Architects and Their Buildings in Midtown Toronto”
May 3, 2015
On Sunday, May 3rd 11 am Jane’s Walk featuring the buildings of architects of Estonian origin in mid-town Toronto. The walk will start at the side door of Tartu College (310 Bloor St. W.) on Madison Ave. Look for blue, black and white flag.
This Walk will cover the same route as last year, but this time it will be guided by Eric Sehr, an Toronto Estonian Urbanist.
During the walk, we will look at the work of four Estonian architects who fled their occupied homeland in the late 1940s. These architects have had a tremendous influence on Toronto’s postwar architectural style and midtown Toronto. The walk will take us through the Annex and U of T, and will finish again at Tartu College. The walk will be along urban streets with sometimes significant traffic on roadways so sticking to the sidewalk is essential. The durations is approximately 2 hours.
In English.
After the walk some coffee and kringel will be served.
