Saturday, September 30th at 4:30pm, the Estonian Central Council in Canada, UpNorth.eu, U of T Finnish Studies Program, House of Anansi Press, and ESC/VEMU present a Black Ribbon Day lecture at the University of Toronto Innis Town Hall (2 Sussex Ave, Toronto). The guest speaker is the international bestselling author, Sofi Oksanen, who will speak about the politicization and falsification of history.

Sofi Oksanen is the international bestselling author of Purge and When the Doves Disappeared, which are set during the Soviet occupation of Estonia. She frequently speaks and writes about the dangers of the distortion and falsification of history and the need to preserve it. Her latest book, Norma, is a spellbinding new novel set in present-day Helsinki about a young woman with a fantastical secret who is trying to solve the mystery of her mother’s death.
