Johannes Pääsuke: A Man with Two Cameras
March 31, 2012 -
Tartu College, 310 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1W4
The exhibition was put together by the Estonian National Museum and Tartu Art College in 2002. The Estonian Studies Centre was created in 2009 by Tartu College with the aim of amalgamating the archives and libraries of Canada’s Estonians into a central location – the Museum of Estonians Abroad, also known as VEMU. Another of VEMU’s goals is to act as an intermediary for the cultures of Estonia and Estonians abroad. The exhibt of J. Pääsuke’s photographs is the fourth touring exhibition from Estonia to be displayed at Tartu College during the past year. The opening in Toronto celebrated both 120 years since the birth of Johannes Pääsuke and the 100th anniversary of Estonian films.
